review

No exaggeration: this product is a game changer. It brings your meat and seafood dishes to life and makes them taste like they were expertly grilled at a high end restaurant or famous barbecue joint.

A friend told me about it years ago and could not stop talking about it. Apparently him and his dad went to Orlando one weekend and ate at the same steakhouse 3 nights in a row because they claimed it was the best steak they ever tasted. Before they left they tracked down the chef and asked him what exactly was his secret. His response: Char Crust.

It’s a fairly simple seasoning formula which you use to rub your meat or seafood in. In our experience, you don’t really need to marinate it. I oftentimes just dredge the meat/seafood and then immediately pop it into the air fryer. After its cooked, the result is a piece of meat/fish which looks like it was perfectly charred on the outside and super soft and juicy on the inside. The flavors pop like crazy and blow my mind every time I eat a bite. This might be my favorite product on this entire website and a true #hiddengem. At roughly $5-7/box it’s worth the cost off Amazon since each packet goes a long way and doesn’t really expire.

Sizing Tips & FAQs

Which flavors do you like the most?

So far, I have only tried the Original Hickory Grilled and Roasted Garlic Peppercorn flavors. I like them so much that I just keep reordering them. The Original Hickory is perfect for chicken and steak while the Roasted Garlic Peppercorn is ideal for seafood.

How much do you need?

It depends on the size of the piece of meat but I like to cake it on there so it’s completely covered. The more you cover it in seasoning the more juicy it will be. Start by only dumping out a a couple teaspoons into a bowl and add more as needed

How many packets are in each box?

One

How long does each box last?

Depends on the size of each piece of meat/fish, but each box goes a long way for me. At least 10-15 seasonings per box

How do you cook the meat?

You can do anything. My preferred method is to air fry the meat (especially salmon) but you can cook it any way you want including under the broiler, on a grill or on a rotisserie
