what we like

  • A specialized shampoo that ACTUALLY does what it’s intended to do
  • A little goes a long way – the jar will last you a long time with just a dab for each use

keep in mind

  • The gritty, mineral texture can be somewhat annoying to clear; needs meticulous rinsing

review

I’ve never actually seen results when using a specialized shampoo – NEVER. In my 20 years of being a product junkie not a single shampoo, conditioner or hair mask has delivered the intended result.  This was really a WOW product moment for me.

A specialized shampoo is for those who don’t have run of the mill hair – meaning cleansing & conditioning on the daily just isn’t going to cut it. For example, I have really long hair. Without a specialized shampoo like this it can become flat & lifeless.

This clay-to-foam shampoo actually cleans your hair while still providing enough material to truly thicken your hair from the root. You can feel the crisp, squeaky clean immediately after rinsing, and  the thickness/texture whether you’re blow-drying or air-drying, straightening, curling or styling otherwise.

The price is steep but it does last a long time because you only need a dab per wash. And bonus – it smells fab!!! A lot of products that actually work skimp on fragrance or have a bad odor but not this one. I wash my hair every 2-3 days & I don’t use this on days where I know I’ll be pulling hair back or up – there’s no point in using an expensive product like this for those days.

One other thing to note, this brand does offer the men’s version of the same product but I don’t think it’s necessary – I think using one or the other is pretty much unisex. A little bit of a marketing ploy here, as far as ingredients go.

Sizing Tips & FAQs

What is a specialized shampoo and how do I know if I should be using one?

A specialized shampoo is for those who don’t have run of the mill hair – meaning cleaning and conditioning on the daily just isn’t going to cut it. For example, I have really long hair. Without a specialized shampoo like this, it can become flat and lifeless.

How often do you wash your hair and do you only use this?

I wash my hair every 2-3 days and don’t use this on days where I know I’ll be pulling my hair back or up – there’s no point in using an expensive product like this for those days.

How do I use this?

Use 2-3 fingers to scoop some of the product out of the container. Rub your hands together with a little bit of water, and then put it on your hair just like any other shampoo. I keep the shampoo in my hair a few minutes before washing off.

Which conditioner do I use with this?

I’m working on the review for that now, but here’s a sneak peek! Christophe Robin Conditioner
