- Best for those looking for: A stylish, comfortable, above ankle pair of everyday socks to use with running shoes
- Perfect length
- Well priced at under $25-30 for a six pack
If you have a TJ Maxx or Marshall’s near you, I’d start there since you can typically get six packs of Nike crew socks for well under $20. If not, the Nike website offers the best all-in deal. The Amazon listing is fine though if you prefer convenience above all else. Just don’t pay more than $30 for a six pack.

I honestly never thought crew socks would come back in style as hard as they have. In my head they were always associated with the “Suburban Dad + New Balances” look. As a lifelong die hard Puma No Show Ankle Socks wearer, I was previously under more of the impression that running shoes only look best when the ankles are fully bare. However, after watching dudes like Lebron and Tony Finau pull off the crew look so damn well, I’m fully converted.
Not only do they look slick when combined with the right pair of running shoes, workout shorts and/or joggers, but they keep your ankles warm and your feet a little more cushioned than your average ankle socks. Nike offers the best combo of style, comfort and value over other competitors that we tried. Definitely worth picking up a six pack for daily wear, even if it’s just for lounging around the house.
How does sizing work?
That Amazon link only has one size (L for Men’s sizes 8-12). If you need a different sizing check out the Nike link.
Black or White?
Either works but i prefer white socks on white shoes. Universally I think it makes for a better look for most people
Which shoes do these look best with?
Check out these ones. APLs pair nicely
As we explained on our best ankle socks post, Bombas are high quality socks which are worth a premium investment if you want a few unique pairs in your rotation. They make a fantastic #giftunder$50. However, for an everyday sock, we think you are better off saving the money and sticking with these Nike ones.
Puma socks are in general more durable and higher quality than ones we have worn from Nike over the years. As a result, they tend to last longer and are a little warmer. However, we prefer the look and design of these Nike ones to any of the ones put out my Puma. If you are just looking for functionality and durability, Puma is the strongest option.
