Fits best for those looking for: A warm, athletic cut hoodie through the arms and body with long enough sleeves
Super comfortable – Has a waffle texture on the interior which makes for one of the comfiest hoodies I’ve ever owned

It’s form fitting and skinny cut so likely won’t work if you have more of a dad bod

Using the absurd amount of data at its disposable, Amazon has tried its hand at creating in-house versions of many of the most popular products people buy on the site. While they’ve done a good job replicating basic household items like toilet paper and paper towels, a lot of their clothing designs have come up short.

This hoodie is one of the exceptions. I didn’t even know Peak Velocity was a brand of theirs that existed until a few months ago. It turns out they make some pretty decent quality products, namely this thermal hoodie, which qualifies it in our minds as a hidden gem.

There are a million of these kinds of hoodies on the market now since we all are looking for a comfortable, warm, everyday top we can throw over a shirt while working out or simply laying around the house in the Fall & Winter. Nike, Adidas, Lululemon and Under Armour all dominate the space and chances are you already own one from one of those retailers. Most of them usually suffer from at least one of the following issues:

Boxy shape
Short sleeve length
Loose arms
Really expensive
Not durable over time

This Peak Velocity Hoodie is the first one I’ve found which provides a really nice fitted cut while also having long enough sleeves which allows you to size down without sacrificing arm length. The waffle textured interior is super comfortable, warm yet breathable which makes it an ideal hoodie to wear daily in the Fall/Winter. Given the price point, I think this is a no brainer if this is the type of fit you are looking for.

Sizing Tips & FAQs

I’ve never heard of Peak Velocity before. What is it?

That makes two of us. I think I’ve instantly returned every other Amazon branded piece of clothing I’ve purchased in the past. Based on what I’ve tried so far though this line of theirs might have staying power.

How does sizing work?

I think it’s pretty true to size. I’m 6′ 1″, 155lbs and I tend to buy my workout shirts in a size small. I wanted a hoodie which didn’t drape off of me at all so I went with a small hoodie here also and absolutely love the fit. It’s a tighter fit though so if you are a little bulkier or have broader shoulders, sizing up isn’t a bad idea. Return policy is great so if you think you’re between sizes, just buy both and choose the one you like best.

How do you clean/dry it?

I just put it in the wash on cold with all my other workout stuff. Tumble dried it low without any shrinkage or issue.

How warm is it?

Works best for weather under 70 degrees fahrenheit. The waffle thermal material will cause you to sweat on sunny days above that temperature.

Uniqlo makes a lot of good stuff, especially jeans, but their tops always just feel so boxy and loose. It’s a decent price point and the materials are durable so if you are looking for a looser shape and looser arms, this isn’t a bad option.
